Meet Our Attorney: Sean C. H. Flood
I’m Sean C. H. Flood, Esq. Practicing law since 2009, I served over nine years in the U.S. Army JAG Corps, and I worked in almost every important military law position as a company grade officer—an Administrative Law Attorney, a Prosecutor, Operational/National Security Law Attorney, Defense Attorney, and a Special Forces Battalion Judge Advocate. My duties had me advising senior commanders on military law, litigating courts-martial, and guiding target engagement authorities on kinetic strikes in compliance with the Rules of Engagement and Law of Armed Conflict. In everything my fellow Soldiers and I accomplished, one passion stood out to me as my true calling: Defending Servicemembers. After leaving the Army JAG Corps in 2019 with an honorable discharge, I have had the distinct honor to represent and fight for Servicemembers and Veterans as a civilian defense attorney.
As a civilian defense attorney, I have represented Servicemembers stationed all over the world from all branches and all ranks of the United States Armed Forces. My caseload ranged from drafting matters in response to “failure to report” nonjudicial punishments to litigating child sexual assault allegations at court-martial and nearly everything in between. No matter the case and no matter the allegations, I always fight for the most favorable outcome for my clients. My practice also included drafting rebuttals for investigations with high visibility and national news interest. Over the last few years, I have taken a particular focus on responding to Sexual Harassment, Equal Opportunity, and Officer Misconduct investigations and boards.
EXPERIENCE MATTERS: When the stakes are at their highest, your reputation hangs in the balance, and your career and even freedom are on the line; you want an attorney that knows the law, knows the regulations, and—most importantly—knows what works to protect you and your livelihood. In my time as an attorney—as both a Soldier and civilian defense attorney—I know nothing replaces an advocate with the knowledge, experience, and record for winning.
Over the years, I have taken the lead on matters where other attorneys—after working their cases for months or even years—did not see a path to victory and did not want to devote their time or sacrifice their “winning” record to a “losing” case. They transferred their case to me as the most experienced litigator to “go down fighting.” In my years of litigating, I know that no case “survives first contact” once an effective advocate gets involved, and I knew I could use my hard-earned experience to give my client’s the best possible representation no matter the odds. A highly-skilled attorney will look for weaknesses in the testimony, analyze the potential motives of witnesses, find inconsistencies in the facts, find overlooked details in the evidence, and most importantly—know when to strike effectively and with impact when the opportunity presents itself during a court-martial, hearing, or investigation. In the end, I always fought hard and turned these “losing” cases into “not guilty” verdicts at courts-martial, recommendations for retention at boards, and unsubstantiated findings in investigations.
I will provide effective and zealous advocacy, maintain unshakable integrity, and develop strategies built to win.
For me, the mission is simple: Do the right thing and fight for my clients with everything I’ve got.
